How to Give an Agency Access to Your Meta (Facebook) Ad Account

Riya Arora, Co-founder of AutoStackUpdated June 2026

The right way to give an agency access to Facebook and Instagram is partner access through Meta Business Manager, not adding them to your personal account or sharing a login. Partner access keeps your assets yours and removes the agency in one click when the engagement ends.

Step by step

  1. 1

Open Business Settings in Meta Business Manager

Go to business.facebook.com and open Business Settings (the gear).

  2. 2

Go to Partners and add the agency

Under Users, choose Partners, click Add, then 'Give a partner access to your assets.' Enter the agency's Business Manager ID.

  3. 3

    Select the assets to share

Choose the ad account, Pages, pixel, and catalog the agency needs. Share only what's relevant.

  4. 4

Set the permission level and save

For each asset, set the task-based permission (for example, Manage Campaigns on the ad account), then save. Confirm the level is correct so nothing fails on launch day.

Choosing the right access level

On each asset you choose the permission: for an ad account, Manage Campaigns vs. full control; for Pages, content, messaging, ads, or full control. Grant the least that gets the job done.

Doing this for every platform, on every client?

That's the chase AutoStack ends. One branded link requests access to Meta (Facebook & Instagram) and the rest of your stack at the right permission level, tracked as state, with no password emails.

Frequently asked questions

Should I add the agency to my personal Facebook or share my password?

No. Use partner access in Business Manager. It never exposes your password and keeps ownership of the ad account and Pages with you.

What's the difference between partner access and adding a user?

Partner access shares specific assets with the agency's whole Business Manager, so people changes on their side don't require re-granting. Adding a user is per-person and harder to manage for an agency.

How do I revoke a Meta partner's access?

In Business Settings under Partners, select the agency and remove their access to your assets. It takes effect immediately.
